Morning Star Investment Fund Awards winners

The Luxembourg fund sector continues to thrive with increasing assets under management in part fuelled by increasing volumes of alternative assets; this underlying trend set the scene for a successful evening for the Morningstar Fund Awards Luxembourg held on Wednesday 2 April at the centre culturel Schéiss in the Val Ste Croix.

The awards commenced with Steven Smit, CEO of Morningstar Benelux, who introduced the event highlighting best practice and performance within the funds industry. He referred to increasing desire for independent financial advice by investors. A short speech followed by Bob Kneip, CEO of Kneip, the leading fund data management firm in Luxembourg commenting on the close working relationship between Morningstar and Kneip – both industry leaders in their own fields.

The awards were hosted by John Baker of the Luxembourg office. The criteria for selecting the winners of the awards were based on performance over a five-year period (since 2009) and those that use the Morningstar information system. This was also balanced with a measurement for risk. Within this, there are two types of award: “Fund House” and “Asset Class”.

Artist and photographer Jacques Schneider supplied a selection of his recent collection portraying the Grand Duke of Luxembourg to add even more colour to the event.
